Putting all political or racial significance aside.
Meh.
Also if they’re so conserened with keeping all the Vibiranium then why did they leave a crashed Lexus made of the stuff in South Korea?

the exact same could be said of DG’s This is America but then again race and politics play an important role in all media, to remove it from BP would be a bit like removing a primary charact from a book to movie adaptation: you loose a lot of the art!

I typed like 4 responses to this and theres no way to justify my original post without coming off as racist to some extent.
So I guess that makes me wrong?
Okay I’ll try one more time. The story line is kind of weak, and all the build up leads to like 5 minutes of actual conflict. Then the awesome bad guy, who could have turned good guy, died instead. Which I think was a waste as his character was more relatable, entertaining, and just plan cooler than T’chala’s. I think killing off N’Jadaka was a huge waste of a great character.

its a marvel movie: fights, magic mcguffins, some humor...take it as it is instead of same great reawakening of action/comic movies as it has been portrayed in some media accounts.
I enjoyed it in that context but I wouldn’t call it my favorite.

I can think of very few comments you could’ve written that would’ve been racist. You don’t come out as racist in the original one either, only a PC idiot would think so.
The thing is that this movie was so entrenched in geopolitics and race relations that the main plot you describe as bleak is closer to a sub plot than an actual plot; marvel has played with politics before but the thing about black panther is that they focused primarily on it rather than on the side as it has been in some films.
In my honest opinion all marvel movies are sort of bleak if you only focus on the the very obvious things, many moral, societal, and personal questions arise from superhero movies because its about the people who are supposed to be “super” in a sense a reflection of what society wants, or needed if you ask Batman.

I think I put it as something like my 8th favorite movie, but my wife (who is black) had it first/second maybe tied with Ragnarok. The race and political stuff is pretty important to the movie, that all the main characters are black is a draw for people of color because there’s not been a big budget blockbuster movie like that. It feels like a lot of the praise for it took its significance and used that to make it a better movie than it was...don’t get me wrong, I think it was a really good movie and I enjoyed it a lot, but it was more significant than excellent.
That said, I don’t believe Killmonger is actually dead. I never believe characters are dead in movies until I see them buried, and it would be a shame to lose Michael B Jordan from the MCU after just one movie.

I thought the Killmonger character was weak. I thought the whole movie was average MCU...probably my least favorite of all of them. I might have enjoyed it more sans all the hype. But the entire time I couldn’t figure out what the big deal was and that’s where the hype ruined it for me.
Avengers:Infinity War was hyped up pre release and lived up to the hype. BP was hyped up after release leading me to believe it would be better than I expected, not the case. Thor:Ragnarok was hyped up post release as well, but deservedly as it was far better than I ever thought it would be.
In the end, it wasn’t the movie that made it a big deal, and that’s OK. But the argument that it’s anything other than an average MCU film is just not the case. It didn’t smash box office records on merit.

I don’t think the Lexus was anything special. Pretty sure it was a normal Lexus. I actually watched it twice. I gave it a 2/10 the first time through because I knew how the whole movie was going to play out about 20 minutes in. I thought it was totally generic and not worth it. I had to watch it again and it was better the second go around. So I give it like a 6/10. For comparison with the rest of the marvel movies I’ve watched, Dr. Strange gets a 5/10, Guardians of the Galaxy 1 gets a 7/10, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 gets a 3.5/10

The LC500 was normal but the LS The girls were in was super bullet proof and Klua said “it’s an andumantim car” no that’s not right.
What about Ragnarok? That is now my possibly my Favorite Marvel flic. With GOTG1 being #2 and Home Coming #3. And I have yet to see Infinity War.

I have yet to see any movie with Thor in it. I’m really not into superhero movies. I think there’s a remarkable sameness to all of them and I don’t like that. I also don’t remember that line from the film but I also don’t remember what I ate for lunch yesterday so that’s not saying much.

Watch Ragnarok. I HATED all the other Thor movies. The plots were stupid and the characters were boring. It’s a genuinely fun, funny movie. The action is good to don’t get me wrong but the character interactions and jokes are better.
